Stoodley Forest Story from Sally Mineur

During the past 10 days various members of my family have visited Stoodley Forest 4 times! This forest is a great resource for our family activities.

We ride bikes along the Tassie Trail to the Beech Forest for a picnic. 2 of my daughters ride their horses around the great tracks through the forest, this in the only public area accessed from town that they are permitted to horse ride. We enjoyed, with our grandchildren, a scramble around the waterfall checking the amount of water flowing after the recent rain and finding a cave we hadnt spotted before. We then "bush bashed" our way back to the car, orienting ourselves using significant landmarks, we even spotted black cockatoos and a platypus in the creek!

Another child is making a film for a Production Course she is doing, the film is set in the Stoodley Forest using the evocative settings and those magical fairytale toadstools.

This forest plays a significant part in my whole family's lives and we all would love to see it conserved for the larger community to enjoy and appreciate.

  1. I hope you noticed the area a bit cleaner after 4 Kentish residents (one from Railton, one from Claude Rd and a couple from Roland!) took a van load of rubbish away on Clean-Up Aus. Day last month. Margaret McLachlan.
